I messed up my front end.

EDIT: More photos and info on post #32

I was driving in a downpour through a restaraunt parking lot trying to find a close spot so I wouldn't have to run like a little girl afraid of getting my hair wet. I saw a spot open up and made a wide swing around some cars parked in the center row... swung right into the base of a light pole. It was hard enough to bruise my shoulder when the seat belt locked up. Luckily I didn't do any damage to the radiator, grille or chrome bumper and the airbags didn't go off.
My valance is ripped up -both by the light pole base and by myself. In order to get the valance off to drive back to work, I ripped it off from the two remaining spots that were holding it up, so now there is not a single bolt hole left. My liscence plate is bent like a crinkled up candy wraper, my bumper lift brackets are have about 3 new bends to them, my skid plate has a nice round radius to the front of it, and my frame horn (right terminology?) is bent and cracked.
My neighbor has yet to see it, but he says with a torch, a sledge hammer, and a welder, we should be able to fis up the frame horn. Anybody know if it's possible?

Enjoy my stupidity:

Yeah I think I'd contact my insurance and go from there before I'd be letting a neighbor try and fix my frame with a sledge hammer. Thats just me however...

Driving through, looking for a spot... probably around 3-5mph.

I didn't even think about that, I guess because I hate contacting my insurance. My neighbor is a mechanic, so I'll see what he has to say in person first.

Yeah, somebody saw me, they just shook their head, and watched me tear my bumper off... I don't know if they were getting my plate no. or not.

Thanks, let me know when you do it, I may be needing it.

I'm thinking maybe we could just cut this one out and weld in a piece of square tubing with the stock bolt locations. I could even make it so that the tow hooks come through the right spot... no more cut up valance. We'll see what happens.

yah i think andy "ranger_interceptor" boxed his front frame. You should look at his "bumper build" thread and he should have pics.

Sucks to hear about the accident. Cut out that cross member and weld in some square tubing and weld in a front hitch. And then sell me the tow hooks.

sorry to hear about that man... but thats ALOT of damage for 3-5 mph huh? in any case, I would not use that member again. Even if it ever does get straight again, it will be much weaker. That's a structural piece for the frame...

sorry to here about that, i did the 'hit a light pole' mod once too, not fun.

i wouldnt go through insurance, but i also would no re-use that frame. i would box it, and i really like the putting in a hitch on the front idea

Hey thanks for all the compassion, and nobody saying, "you're a freaking idiot."

My neighbor has a welder friend he works with who's going to check it out tomorrow. From there we'll decide what we're gonna do. We may have to attempt to straighten it out until I can get some help and ideas together for boxing out the frame. I don't know what kind of tools and materials this guy has to get the job done, all I know is that I have none.

As for the speed... maybe it was 5-10mph, but it couldn't have been too fast. These Rangers are not rockets, and I had just started moving when i had the oh sh*t! moment.
