Saying goodbye to the ranger...and HELLO Cummins 6.7 ;)

Was a sad day, but a good day at the same time. so many hours, sweat, anger, frustration all packaged into one truck. I have worked on this truck for 3 long years and it never ends!

And hello cummins diesel! I'm part of a new family, unfortunately dodge has the best motor in their truck, otherwise I'd be with a ford. I can't stand the 6.0 problems with EGR and head gaskets, etc. Just too much...

When i walked in the dealer I was looking for an f150, luckily they had just sold it. So i hopped on their computer and looked for anther truck. Out of curiosity I searched diesel...2 trucks came back. one was the mega cab. I looked...it said mega cab "Wow, thats nice" I thought...then it said 2500 diesel..."OMG i have to drive this"...then it said standard transmission..."WOW I HAVE TO HAVE THIS!!!!"

I drove it, drove well, everything is fine. For those not familiar with carmax the price you see is the price you get, no haggling. Which is great, the salesman get the same comission on my truck as a 10k honda accord. There is a 5 day carmax guarantee, anda 30 day carmax warantee...

so needless to say I made the right decision, little mroe than I wanted to spend, but only live once.

It is screaming for 315's and levling kit, which is coming soon. On top of that exhaust, intake, and programmer. I have to delete the DPF emissions crap...it's kind of a pain.

Anyways, for 27k miles it is beautiful, about 2 scratches ont he entire truck. Little ones, that will buff out. It has a roll tonneau, and bedliner already sprayed on

Onto the pics

I don't think it will even blink at the trailer I tow...I can load her down and hit the gas and GOOO

A stick shift??? Hell i would have bought it too, lol. I hate big trucks with autos. Hate to see your ranger go, but I am in love with your new one.

PS. Its also screaming for a new headunit...

i hope there's no gas to hit in it

NICE truck! I've been going back and forth on weather i like the mega cabs or not, its a ton of cab not much bed.. the duallies look goofy for sure, but the single rear wheel ones are looking better and better to me.

does it have the 5.9 or 6.7?

How are you liking the mega cab? A guy I use to work with had one and loved it. I never knew how much room it had until i looked in it one day.

Thanks guys, the payment isn't too bad, just a tad over 500. My ranger was 320, so not too much of a big deal for me. Insurrance went down 200 a month because of safe driver and some other discounts, so it more than equals out. I am paying the same for this truck as I did for my ranger when I paid payments (over 2 years ago)

I don't mind paying for this truck, at all.

I tow a lot. I go atv'ing just about every weekend, we have a 24ft trailer with at least 4 atvs and 300gallons of water, just shy of 8k pounds fully loaded including the trailer. It CAN be pulled by a gas, but why? I get 20mpg towing...

Also going to be upgrading and getting either a bumper pull toyhauler or a 5th wheel, I'm leaning towards bumper pull because I don't care much for the 5th wheel, I am inexperienced with them as well.

Overall, huge upgrade for me, can't wait to do a few little things to it, but mostly keeping it stock.

And also, might be doing the navi, but hard to find a nice dash kit, the stereo is integrated in the whole dash.

I've thought bout a mega cab as well, their standard 4dr truck has about the same room as a x-cab f150 chevy 1500... thought it still had your standard length bed though? if not whats the length of the bed?? gorgeous truck... i'm still leaning towards a newer F250, the interior is MUCH nicer than the dodge i think... ahh hard decisions...

One great looking Ranger. Sorry to see it go. At least you bought the only good thing about a dodge.

It was a hard decision for me between the f250 and cummins...

The f250 has an amazing interior, I love the way they look, and they are a rock solid truck...EXCEPT for the 6.0 motor. The heads float when you put a programmer on (too much combustion pressure) and you need to get arp studs (a two thosand dollar job, the cab has to be lifted to get to the bolts too...)

The cummins...well its an amazing motor, gobs of power, standard trans is good, clutch is the weak point..but thats an easy fix. The interior...well compared to the super duty it is garbage, but I like it. Plain jane, nothing to break.

I need to get good seat covers and catch all floor mats, I just have to find some I like. I just want seat covers that fit really tight that I can wash easy, I get muddy from time to time

It was an easy decision for me. Everyone with a 6.0 that I know, that uses their truck, ends up leaving it in the shop. Most these guys blow the head gaskets several times until they fix it right, not to mention transmission problems

I dont know. My buddy has the 6.0 in his F250 and no problem yet. He has a tuner and I think a Banks kit on it.
