It has been about 3 months since i did the interior painting but the weather has finally gotten nice out to get pictures.
(Color is a dark metallic green to match the outside paint)







And my personal favorite: the $6 dollar hydraulic hood strut mod.

 

truck looks really good. you just get some struts for autozone and fab them up to the hood?

 

Actually the struts came off a tarus at the junk yard, cost me 2.99 each
Then i grabbed some brackets off an explorers back window hatch for the bottom mounts, and off a blazer for the top mounts.
Did some grinding to smooth them down, then positioned them and bolted them up. Works great, plenty of lift power too.

 

^NO CRAP!! Here..I was about to dump like $60 for one of the Redline Tuning sets!

Ok....so Taurus struts....what year taurus? Explorer back window brackets.......what year expo??

yea...so us Northwesterners are gonna be hunting the yards this weekend!

 

Yeah, i just found a newer model tarus, i think it was 99 +
They have the struts on them. Easy to pop off.

Then i just went looking "hrm what has struts that would have brackets".
I found the explorer has them (may be other vehicles), they are attached to the body though, so you may need a chisel and hammer, some pliers and some snips to remove them from the body. If i remember correctly these fit the top portion of my struts.
Then i found a GM vechile with the same setup (lift up tailgate window), but hey leave it to GM, there back window mounts were mounted on with screws so those were easy to remove, and the ***** on those fit the lower end of the struts.
(hope that makes sense)

$6 is such a good deal.

Hopefully the info i gave will help you find the parts you need.
Just test fit the brackets to the struts to make sure there going to fit it. And i'm pretty sure there are other things you can pull the brackets off of, but thats what i was standing near and decided to pull them off there.

 

I love the hydraulic struts. It's one of those things I wan, but will probably never get around to.
