I got lucky and found some fabricated spindles for an explorer thru Kris. Way thicker and tougher snout and over-all spindle is stronger.
Hopefully it don't happen again, I can't afford Camburg right now.

Dam.. I wanted to do spindles but now I'm not so sure... I dont really want to fab my own...
I'm sure you can buy just the spindle from Camburg by itself. It's ****in beef.
Thats right. So you cant just use a camburg spindle, gotta get their whole supension. Too bad the girlyfriend doesn't like big lifted trucks... She'll let me get away with a spindle lift tho...
Quick question... It looks like the factory axle stud is a separate piece from the spindle. Is it threaded in? So why not use the factory axle stubs and beef up the lower portion of the spindle, drill a hole, and get it machined the thread in the OEM axle stub. Make a plug and fill in the old hole and volia, you have a new beefy spindle. No? Or is this just crazy talk....
I'll see if ya'll know anything about this, I've been researching and haven't found a thing. The stroker kit for the 3.0's, anyone every seen one installed, testimonial, video, anything? I've seen what 5-7 lbs of boost can do with a 3.0 but I can't find anywhere a 3.3 stroker ANYTHING, not even a Taurus or Sable.
Wont work with stock suspension components. Camburg uses their own upper and lower ball joints. Hence the overall badassness of the kit.
Some people say its a waste to lift a 2wd too but I think. A ton of people swap in 5.0s but look how many 3.0 strokers are out there. I think hes going for more of a unique build then just the cookie cutter easy way out.
See, that's the first time I've heard someone actually agree..........What's so bad about a boosted 3.3 stroker with some extra love and attention throughout the motor? That's pretty much the only thing I haven't done to this truck besides port and polish. I think that with a nice cam, the roller rockers that I have, the ignition parts that I have, UD pulleys, intake and exhaust won't matter because the turbo cancels both out, maybe only run 7 lbs of boost for the begining, slap a wideband on it and buy all the necessary fuel upgrades for turbo, and stick it on a dyno. It'd make good power, hell as it is it already gives the "ricers" a hard time keeping up. I'll ask this, how many of you have actually seen a 3.0 with $1,500 just associated with the engine? It's not as much of a turd as ya'll play it out to be. I have no proof so I know for most it's not valid, but there are guys around here in 4.0 Rangers at stock height w/ auto trans and I left them everytime when I was lifted 12" higher than them with 33's and auto trans. I'll have to bust out the camera and set it up in the truck one day just to give ya'll an idea. And yes, I see your points with the 5.0, the aftermarket is amazing for them. Parts are everywhere for low prices and 5.0's can make AMAZING power if tuned right, but I don't want a 5.0. I can make enough power out of my 3.0 to make me happy.
I think a built 3.0 would be badass. An otherwise stock 3.0 with a Whipple will put a stock SOHC in its place. With a little more love, that thing would be an absolute blast to drive.
Guy on here built up a 3.0. He did everything you could possible do to a 3.0 and guess what? Still didn't make much power for the money invested. Why do you think the 3.0 section has "The little engine that could. Or Derek thought!" in the title.

I agree bolt-on's and tuner still isn't an "amazing" motor, but once you add boost into the equation of a "built" 3.0 who's to say that $5,000 into this motor can't meet your cost/hp ratio? I know that you can easily dump 3K into a sb350 and not get over 350 hp and the after market for those motors is just as good as the 5.0's. Once you stroke 'em and add a little boost to get the hp up there you've easily spent atleast another 3K. Back on the subject of guys who have done just about everything to the 3.0, there's a black 93-97 (I think) that has his own web page dedicated to the reviews of everything he's done but I can't remember who it is. He uses icons to show the difficulty ratings and overall satisfaction for the mod. Ya'll know who I'm talking about?
Everything possible. Stroker, boost, heads, cam everything. Yeah you can make the same power as a 5.0 but then reliability shows its ugly face along with diveability. A 3.0 with a bunch of boost wont last as long as a 5.0 with a little boost. Its just not worth it in my opinion. Not even worth it on my 4.0.

I agree with building a 3.0. It would be fun, you can probably make good power... But the more you mess with something the less reliable it is.
Oh, look up peaco (spell?) they will custom make ANY kind of internals you want. Forged, balanced, lightened, stroker, ANYTHING. And I'm sure some crazy bastard out there has already screwed around with the insides of a 3.0. From what I've heard and seen the 1st gen SHO's had stock 3.0 blocks with the Yamaha heads on them. I know people have built those, and I know they make wicked awesome power. You just have the wrong heads. Look into it man.

Yes, but I was talking about the 1st gen, like the 89-91 SHO. That used a 3.0 block. I've seen the block before, It looks identical to the ranger block minus the front timing cover. The all Yamaha V-6's were the later 3.2 versions and the 3.4 V-8. I think Ford just shipped the bare 3.0 block to Yamaha to have them assemble it, or visa versa. I'm pretty sure the internals are different, but the blocks are the same. So transmission, engine mounts, wiring, will all plug in. Just track a SHO parts car, or engine, and have a 220hp 8k rpm Ranger. Heck I know a guy here selling a 90 SHO with 72k on it for $300 bucks. The engine is worth double that.
