I can thank ford for that. Once I got the corded drill it really wasn't that bad.

+1million on trying to pull from both if needed. Unfortunately, I thought they were bolted right onto the frame instead of a crossmember and I got lazy and hooked to one instead of both.
Anyways, if you have to pull from one, you may see this happen or worse.

That crossmember is a pretty pathetic pull point, i found that out the same way you did. Pretty sure I'll be cutting it out in favor of a front receiver!

one small question what are we to do if we don't have front or rear tow hooks??? b/c I don't see anything very strong on either ends...

you think Ford would make them standard on a truck...

front, you can wrap a strap around the front crossmember (under the engine). That is about it. From the rear, buy a hitch..If you got a 4x4 you got pull points, if not..you're supposed to stay on road or make the modifications i guess

The other option i thought of tht other night while insatlling the hooks on mikes truck is. You can sctuall take a pretty thick piece of flat steel and mount behind the cross member. the bolts are long enough you would just have to drill four more hole but it should strengthen the front up considerably!!
