+1million on trying to pull from both if needed. Unfortunately, I thought they were bolted right onto the frame instead of a crossmember and I got lazy and hooked to one instead of both.
Anyways, if you have to pull from one, you may see this happen or worse.

That crossmember is a pretty pathetic pull point, i found that out the same way you did. Pretty sure I'll be cutting it out in favor of a front receiver!
one small question what are we to do if we don't have front or rear tow hooks??? b/c I don't see anything very strong on either ends...

The other option i thought of tht other night while insatlling the hooks on mikes truck is. You can sctuall take a pretty thick piece of flat steel and mount behind the cross member. the bolts are long enough you would just have to drill four more hole but it should strengthen the front up considerably!!
