Went to the Lake.. 25 pics.. 1 vid.. 35MPG..

Took off the FX2.3 decals.. washed the truck and then drove down to Joe Pool Lake to check out their "beach"..

Filled up before I left for the lake and filled up again after to get my hwy mpg.. With the aid of the scanguage I did 49 miles on 1.4 gallons.. or 35MPG!

Took about 140 pics.. here are the best 25..

yeah, if I had a bigger tank,,

I have the 16.5 tank.. so maybe 570..

Im happy.. the whole point in lowering the truck, getting retuned, lightweight rims, bed cover, and the scan guage was to get better mpg.. best I got with 31"s was 26mpg..

can't wait to take it on its first road trip.. I could go to austin and back to dallas on one tank.. oh and have enough to make it back down to austin again.. on the same tank.. might have to push the last 5 miles or so.. lol..

your getting maybe 20 hwy.. $106 for the trip vs my $60 for the same trip..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Cool pics. I dont think that i've been to Joe Pool lake before.

Good to hear that real world 30+ MPG is actually achievable out of the 2.3L.. Sad thing is that it gets better MPG than my car does. I have to drive 65MPH on the highway to even get 30-32MPG. I went and test drove a 2003 2.3L/manual and really liked it, a tad more sluggish than a 3.0L but it had decent low end grunt. I sure did miss the higher driving position, even for it being just a little reg cab 2wd XLT.

Thats not the sg..

I filled up the truck before I went, I used the sg to watch my mpg, I filled up when I got back, did basic math, 49miles/1.4 gallons via the odometer/gas pump.. I used google earth to verify the distance so my speedo is not off after the retune.. same math I have always used, just a short trip, a similar trip I had 31"s and got 26 mpg..

I still plan to make a longer trip to verify I can maintain or exceed the 35mpg..

Might help my rims only weigh 12lbs each..

truck is super clean bro! 35 mpg?!?!?!?! I just filled up today with my 2002 4.0 FX4 Auto and got 16.3 ALL CITY. Never went over 45 mph. Better than the 12.7 on my last tank of hot rodding and taking the truck to the local 1/4 mile track. (ran a 15.3 at 89 mph) woohoo. Paint those flairs and front bumper cover!

What have you done to your FX4 to run a 15.3? That's about as fast as a five speed 05-08 V6 Mustang.

I have a pic of my odo at 280 miles and a flat empty tank, took 17.1 gallons to fill er up, you do the math. My mods are: Bamachips/SCT Xcal-2 tune (93 oct. performance tune), JBA headers, maganaflow exhaust, AEM brute force intake, Throttle body spacer. Runs 15.3's all day long on 31x10.50's. as far as the mileage i'm getting, just drive it easy and de tune the truck. When im not going to the track i return to stock tune, intake, ect. With all the mods on 12mpg is what i get if im lucky. And yes i outrun STOCK v6 AUTO mustangs at the strip, the 5-speeds run 14.9-15.2 STOCK. We had a 12.8 second 2007 Mustang GT a while back. Looking for a 07+cobra right now. in red. yummmmm

I changed my driving so my truck shifts sooner.. I accelerate to about 3k, let it shift into 2nd, accelerate to about 2.5k, let it shift into 3rd, accelerate to 2.5k, let it shift into 4th, and cruise around 40mph..

Ill try to make a vid..
