Ok I bought a 97 b2300 from a buddy. 140k on it obviously 4 cylinder 5speed truck. I knew it ran rough when I bought it. He drove it about 20 miles to me. Well it starts really rough and noisy. Will idle fine for about 15-20 secs then starts getting noisy and wants to die on me. You can keep it alive by keeping your foot on the gas. Then the idle drops when you let your foot off and sounds like a lawn mower then dies. Smells like it's real fuel smelly.
Any suggestions? I know the plugs, wires, and fuel filter were just changed. I checked and no cel is on.

might sound like a stretch, but we once had an old chevy astro that had a similar problem. turned out the catalytic converter was clogged with carbon deposits. I don't know if the same thing could happen to a mazda pickup. just a thought though.
