1999 Ranger Dead Misfire 2.5
1999 Ranger Dead Misfire 2.5
Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my 1999 Ranger. Did a recent plug and wire change and everything was fine afterward. Im now having a problem with a cylinder 2 misfire. It happens randomly and is a dead misfire, and pulls the code for it as well, and causes a flashing CEL.
The issue is that it happens randomly. Car runs great then all of a sudden will start to miss. I was thinking maybe a shorted coil pack, but I notice each wire for cylinder 2 comes off a separate coil pack. I pulled the wire off the plugs one at a time and both causes a equal change in the rpm, and both pulled cause the misfire symptom. Injector drop test causes the same condition as well. Any ideas? Plug insulators did not get cracked either

if you haven't already, change your ignition coil (you can get away with only changing the ignition side and leave the exhaust side alone) I had a similar issue when i last changed my plugs and wires and it was because of an ancient ignition coil
