What is causing my transsmision to tell me to shut up? lol

So when i'm driving my transmission makes a metallic SHHHH noise, it is loud first through third and gets quieter in fourth and goes away in OD, drives fine, really curious of what it is, the fluid is 22 years old so idk if its junk or not, thanks for your input.

If the fluid smells funny, there's probably something wrong under the hood.

This goes for more than just vehicles, this will also, in most cases, work for woman.

lol

haha i like that, any ways if the fluid smells bad/ burnt what does that mean that there is something else wrong? and do you mean the transmission slipping, its a manual idk if they can slip other than the clutch slipping.

ok checked the fluid which is as brown as my my *** after chinese, its dripping on the bottom were the case looks like the two halfes were connected that alluminm looking plate between the transmission is dripping and the whole front of the transmission is wet, the fluid doesn't smell that bad i mean atf fluid doesn't smell great in the first place, idk if its oil of tran. fluid but that metel piece under the oil filter is dripping too but the oil filter is dry all around, and the tran. fluid looks like motor oil, so can you fill by removeing the shifter and can you use gear lub like the 2.9L's tansmission calls for, and would that be better

ok update, since when i checked the fluid id didn't click in my head that since the truck is leaning on the side of the fill plug that it will leak, i'm an idiot, found out that you can fill it from the shifter, one mystery solved, fluid stinks a little more than it dose fresh as i found out by sticking my nose down were the shifter was, better than smelling my fingers, i have nes paper under my stuck so i can see how much its leaking while sitting and in the middle of the puddle it looks normal and aroudn the edge it looks water, is that bad flud all by it self or should i be seeing a different problem, its not too wet in the bell houseing from what i could tell by sticking my fingers in the inspection hole, so anyideas were leaking, and maybe some of it on the fron end is oil, hard to tell all the same color, it was wet around the valve cover that i just replaced so i tghtened the bolts a quarter turn. anyways so tell me what yo guys think, thanks

ok i belive its just fluid, after i added fluid after accidently draining some, it didn't make the noise, the colant didn't smell burnt and since its 22 year old fluid i would imagine that it just broke down over time

for the leak... is it soaked or dripping where the tranny meets the engine? Rear main seal. Check tranny lines for leaks. Check up by the radiator or tranny cooler whichever you have. any pics
