95 2.3L Suddenly runs BAD! HELP! Idles rough, no power.
 

1995 2.3L 200,000+ miles. All of a sudden it runs very rough. When idleing ithe engine shakes like a hot rod. When starting out in 1st, it feels like it is going to die. When on the highway, the top speed is about 62mph. I changed the plugs and wires last night, but no improvement. I also put synethic fuel system cleaner in tank with no improvement. Also, there are no codes on the dash. I tested the ignition coils.

when was the last time the fuel filter was changed out?

How old is the timing belt ?

Humm.. clogged cat?.. the top speed problem sounds like it is overheating, shaking engine and wanting to die at low rpms... low fuel pressure perhaps.. try checking out your fuel filter and/or pump on that issue.

I had the same problem and it was my fuel filter. You could also check your ic motor.

check compreson in all cylinders.

Mine was doing a similar thing. Changing plugs and wires helped a little. It only does the shaking and no power from a stop ordeal when I have the ac on now.

replace the mas air flow sensor it fixed my 96 and i tried everything else first
