I've got a 96 2.3l with manual transmission. A few days before Christmas It was running fine. A couple days later it wouldn't start unless you put the petal to the floor. It wouldn't idle, and it ran horribly, and smoked pretty bad. I started with plugs and wires which it needed desperately. Some of them were worn so bad the gap was at like .075-.080. After the plugs and wires it would idle but it still ran bad. Since then I've replaced the fuel filter and fixed a vacuum leak that was under the throttle body going to the thermistor and purge valve. At idle the truck has 39psi fuel pressure. It bleeds off over night to about 20 psi. I checked the FPR vacuum line for fuel it was dry. I disconnected the coils and put the truck at WOT by hand at the throttle body and had somebody crank the truck. With a screwdriver I listened to every injector and none of them were firing unless I let off the throttle a little bit so that tells me it goes into clear flood mode and it does start when put into clear flood mode. So I think I have a leaking injector but I'm not sure. My TPS at closed throttle was .88 volts and at full throttle was at 4.68v. And smooth increase as the throttle opened. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and the IAC. With the truck idling and I unplug the IAC the truck dies. And while idling I also tried pulling off the vacuum line off the FPR and the fuel pressure dropped a little. I've also cleaned the IAC. Also when it first happened I replaced the coolant temp sensor on the front of the motor because it was reading -45 degrees. It didn't change anything except now it reads the temperature as it should. If anybody could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
