I agree about the turbo coupe computer being more likely to handle the boost, it's already referenced for forced air on a 2.3.

What about the 2.3T Mustang?
ya, same motor as the mustang or merkur ect... any turbo 2.3 you can find, i'd use the computer MAF and injectors out of... that's just what i'd do tho.

Why not build a 2.3Turbo, or swap one in out of an 80's Thunderbird Turbocoupe? It'll have a HUGE power potential compared to that, and get better mileage when you're just driving it easy. I mean, cool to try something different,,.. but... idk, a supercharger on a 4 cylinder? You're robbing HP just to try to make some. Swapping in a Turbocoupe engine, computer, and turbo would be MUCH more efficient, and powerful..

EDIT: And I REALLY hope you change pullies on that! A stock engine is only going to hold up to 5-8PSI before you blow something, and that's 5-8PSI IF you have it tuned!

I'm not looking to make it efficient, and I'm not looking to make a racecar. I am doing it to try something different.

Why would I swap in something that has already been built? That is the easy way out. I really think you should research it a little more too. The M90 doesn't take away THAT much HP. Just from the little bit I have driven it, I noticed a huge gain in power. I am not a dyno junkie, and I 'm not trying to squeeze every little bit of power out of this poor motor. I am just looking for a decent amount of power so it will get out of its own way.

What is wrong with a supercharged 4cyl? Just because it isn't common practice doesn't mean it is a bad thing. Just because there isn't a 'kit', and it isn't 'bolt on' doesn't mean it can't be done. How do you know that a turbo'd 4cyl is better? Have you ever built either one? Have you ever supercharged a Lima 2300?

If you would have read any of my other posts you would know that I am going to change the crank pulley. You are not telling me anything I do not know.

BTW if I blow it up I will build my own motor with forged crank, rods, and pistons. I won't just swap in a motor that already has that done.

I am doing this BECAUSE I CAN. If it doesn't turn out great, oh well. If it turns out to run like a raped ape for another 100,000 miles I promise not to rub it in your face.

We got the bypass valve built in today, and took it for a ride. With the bypass open it still makes about 2 1/2 pound of boost. It runs fine with the bypass open. With the bypass closed all of the way(full boost) it still loses fuel at 7 psi. We shimmed the valve open a little bit and ran it around town. It seems to run great at around 5 psi. The stock fuel strategy just can't keep up even at full rich. The bypass will be cable operated so it can be manually opened and closed instead of by vacuum.

Okay, here are some pictures of it with the hood and grill back on. A couple vids too. Sorry they suck I don't know how to make the video resolution bigger on my camera.

Walk Around:

Boost @ high RPM:

Boost @ low RPM:

TO build the boost down low I just closed off the bypass valve more. With it like this it builds too much boost up high in the RPMs so I have to drive it like a diesel. Most of the time we have the bypass open father as to not build much boost at the bottom. That if we need to stretch it out we can without it falling on its face for lack of fuel.

EDIT" We have to fab up a way to mount some idler pulleys. The belt flops around like a fish out of water.

Haha, it is just you. Everyone thinks that though. It is because we split the header. The right side exhaust is cyl. 1&2 and the left is 3&4. Only one window was down as well.

None yet. Not that we haven't done it, just haven't had a camera there when we did.

You have to hear it in person, it sounds a lot better. It does sound really weird though, that's why we did it. It sounds like no other truck on the road.
