difference in blocks
Is there any differences in blocks for the 2.3 over the years. I have a 1983 and I need to find a block to rebuild that will work in my 83 ranger
All help is greatly appreciated!!

for 95 they eliminated the distributor hole and all sorts of other items. Stick with a 94 or older block and you should be all set. It will be even more direct if you go with one that already has a distributor because it will have the drive gear in it already instead of having to swap the one from your engine.
83-88 all the 2.3 motors will directly swap with each other.
89-97 the blocks went to a smaller main journal, and obviously smaller main journal crank.
89-94 engines can be swapped into your 83 with minimal modifications.
95+ engines are a different animal. Same blocks, but castings changed a little. This would not be your best choice to switch too.
Your head will bolt to any Lima 2.3 block.
