Heater control valve leaking again

I bought an aftermarket heater control valve from Napa last year and not too lnong after I installed it it started leaking. I returned it and got another one and now it is leaking again. Is there something I am missing?? Should I juast get one from a different parts store? And if anyone knows what this part actually does, I would love to know. I haven't found anything clearly stated elsewhere.

It is a valve that allows hot coolant to flow through the heater core which in return gives you heat. I'd get one from the dealer, usually aftermarket parts are a hit or miss. Some last, some don't.

I have a 1998 Ranger V6.....did your control valve leak all the time or just when you had the selector in the cab turned to a certain position? Mine leaks ONLY in the Winter time when you first start the truck and put the selector in the cab to the vent/floor position. If I leave the selector in the OFF position and let the truck warm up a few minutes and then move the selector to the vent/floor position it does not leak.
