Lowering an '08

Have a 2008 2.3L 2wd, I want to drop the front and rear 2" to 3", anyone make spring kits.
How wide a rim and tire can I go if I change the wheels out to 17 or 18"?
Also I have 13k on it and the front rotors are warped, should I get them cut (making them thinner and more likely to warp again) or does someone make better rotors without major bucks?
Anyone try a Jet computer on a 2.3L?
Does anyone make a cold air intake for the 2.3L?
Does the Ranger 2.3L have a counter balancer like the Focus? (Mine vibrates at idle like a paint shaker)

Yes. You can get the DJM 2/3 drop, but I recommend just going for 4/5.

All depends on the backspacing and how much you want to trim, or how much rub you're willing to deal with. Do some measuring and figure out what you want. A 10" wide 18" rim will fit if you try.

Quit riding your brakes. Centric makes a good replacement rotor, and if you want to step it up, they also make slotted and slotted/cross drilled replacement rotors.

NO. Get the X-Cal 3 tuner from SCT. Doug at BamaChips can get you some good tunes.

Yes. K&N. Only for the 03 and older 2.3 DuraTech though, so modification of the maf sensor is required.

No. Balancer shafts rob power.

And seriously, use Google search, and you would have had most of these questions answered.

Thanks John, great advice. As far as I know, i'm not touching the brake till I ned them, pretty conscience of it. I looked at the discs and it sure seems like there is a lot of wear for under 13k

My rotors on the front are stock (for now hehe) and they look pretty darn good for 98K miles.

BTW, if you wanna go 2/3, you can just get the springs for the front, and flip the hangers out back for 2". And if you aren't worried about payload capacity, you can remove a leaf from each rear spring to get another 1.5" or so. Springs for the front run about $100, and with about $10 worth of hardware from HomoDepot, you can get a 2/3.

Hey Smakes, why don't you pull a leaf and level that thing out till you get your beams? You can always put it back in when you do the flip kit.

No, leave the overload, thats what keeps your springs from inverting like a ***** in ice water. Take out the second from the longest, or the one below it, depending on how much drop you want. This will also soften the ride and reduce load carying capacity. You already know that, but I gotta say it.

they must have it pisses me off, I always throw it in neutral and coast to a light instead of using the brakes right away to baby it but obviously that didn't do much.

Leave the overload spring. I flipped my shackles and pulled the over load out when I was lowered. Yes, it looked really good but if it ever spins a tire, you risk getting wheel hop and breaking a u-joint. I know all to well of this.
