I have a 87 ranger with a 2.0L carburated was wanting to put a 1988 fuel injected 4 cyl motor in how much different is the wireing, would it be better to change out the whole harness. Thanks Todd
Well are you sticking with the 2.0? If so it will still be carburated if its a different motor its going to be fuel injected and you'll need the whole wiring harness and computer.
The motor that is in the truck is a 1987 2.0 carburated. I want to put a 1988 fuel injected motor in.They are both 4 cyl motors . Also will the transmission be the same they both have 5 speeds. Thanks Todd
The reason i'm changing motors the # 4 cly. is dead. Fire through the plug but if you pull #4 wire it don't change the way it runs.

So im assuming your wanting to put a 2.3 in? But yeh if your switching to fuel injection your going to need the whole wiring harness and comuter. It would probally be best to just stay Carbed. Put a Carbed 302 in there :)

the transmissions are the same you'll have to swap the wireing if you have a complet donor vechicle it should be pretty straight foward or you coulds put your top end on a 2.3 and stay carbedOriginally Posted by toddhamby

I'm getting a donor it runs good but the trannys out. Mine has a lot better body & the short bed. Thanks for the help.I put some pictures of my truck on the site.
yep the intake will fit the 2.3 head. i've got a buddy that has a 2.3 head on a 2.0 w/ a holley 4 barrel on it and that damn thing will scream to 6k pretty fast he wont tell me what cam hes got or where to get a aftermarket cam for 1
Going to get the donor truck this saturday. taking out my 2.0 carburated & replacing it with the 2.3 fuel injected motor, Also putting the interior out of the donor in mine it's in a lot better shape. May make a trailer of the back half of the truck. Put the rest in the shed for parts if i ever need them.
Went & got the truck, I think it woul be a lot less work to put my tranny in the donor. Will the 5 spd off the 2.0 bolt up to the 2.3. 2.0 is a 1987 the 2.3 is a 1988. does anyone know what years i could use the truck is a 88 with a 2.3 need a 5spd. Thanks Todd
