How many miles on it? Tune up ?? Its only a small 4 banger but if it seems worse just check the plugs and stuff, do a tune up if you haven't. Truck is 14 years old.

First go to Autozone tell them you have an OBD-I truck and need the codes pulled. They will do it for free if they have the equipment. After that fix whatever codes are there and see if that helps. If not, do the throttle cable mod. Replace the dist. cap and plugs. Sea foam the intake manifold, fuel, and oil. (1/3 of the can in each) and throw a tank of 89/92 into it.

Ive heard bad things about that throttle cable mod... Like it can snap your cable or stretch it, to the point it eventually snaps.

nah....all it is is a few plastic zip ties. The plastic will break before braided steel line.

i had the same problem at one time check you Mass Air Flow Sensor make sure its not dirty or anything in the little hole where the sensor is also check your fuel pressure theres a laundry list of thing it could be and the throttle cable mod broke my throttle cable bracket in two so i would not suggest that

are any of those things going to cost a lot, cuz im just trying to have it stay running till i can save up for another truck... and i think the tranny is going out, so i dont want to drop a lot of money into it if the tranny is just gonna drop... not replacing that, cost way more than the truck
