Odd EGR valve problem
Odd EGR valve problem
Hi all. I'm new to this, so please bear with me. Just bought a '94 Ranger, 2.3L 4 cyl, 2wd, ext cab, XLT. Keep getting check engine light. Thanks to the great info here, pulled the codes, got 332 and 172. The downstream O2 sensor is MIA, so I'm focusing on the EGR valve code. Checked all vacuum lines. All looked good. Removed valve and cleaned it. Valve works when vacuum applied (sucked on it while looking in mirror and could see valve lift with little suction). Reattached and tightened connecting pipe to exhaust (which was so loose it rattled). Disconnected battery to reset codes. Drove. Still getting 332 code. When I pull the vacuum line off when the engine is hot and running, suction is very weak. Strong going into solenoid (enough to stick to my finger) but very weak coming out. Not getting solenoid code. Could this be the problem anyway? Could the missing O2 sensor be causing the solenoid to misbehave? Can a solenoid be fixed? Thanks for any insight you can offer.
Idk about the 332 code but you should definetly reinstall any missing Emmisions sensors asap for the good of the truck, your gas and the enviroment. if it still gives you the code after then linvestigate further into the egr's little elctrical friend the vacum line runs too.
