I was wondering what the max payload and towing weights are on my 2000 2.5 L. I can't seem to find anything online.

OK since I have been told by people that I am being an '***' 'dick' and other things I will help.

If you read your owners manual it is in there. If you search it is there. If you read your bumper it is there. But what do those numbers mean? Not much. It is recommended. I have towed another truck with my 4 banger on 33's and been fine.

And this guys apparently thinks it is too.

And just for the record, I just searched my owner's manual, there is nothing in there concerning towing ratings that I can find through the index or reading through it.

 

It's on the bumper. And if you have a hitch it is on there too.

 

Thats the 09 models but they havent changed the truck in years. and yes it is in your owners manual just keep looking.

Sorry about causing an up roar. I did google it but I couldn't find anything that would say what my I4 could do. Everything was talking about the V6. I was tired last night and just felt that if I asked I would get an easy straight forward answer.
I guess next time I will have to wait till I'm feeling a little more awake. Thanks for the help though. I will have to check my bumper I guess. Also no, I don't have the owners manual, I bought the truck used.

 

If I remember right the 2.5 has about 130 hp new. That's probly 100 hp now. The old saying was times your hp by 35 and thats what you can tow. You can make it more with gearing and tires and such. But thats been the general rule for as long as I can remember. I will tell you that my uncle tows my moms pop up (not sure of the weight) twice a year when nascar comes around with his 97 4 banger. That with all the stuff in it and in the bed of his truck has to be at least 3,000 lbs. Yeah it sags, but nothing the pic above. Looks decent and as long as he watches the bumps hes just fine. Keep one thing in mind though, you bought a ford, you'll be ok.

I'm curious to know what mine could do since I have 4.56 gears. I want a camper, but I'm pretty limited with the weight.

You also have to remember you have to be able to stop your truck and the trailer.

The way I see it, sure, you don't want to beat on your truck too much with the amount of weight you are moving forward, but you REALLY don't want all that weight to keep pushing you when you need to stop quickly.

 

what r u planing to tow? cause most important is braking cause the car got power to pull.... just remember u need twice the time to stop when driving heavy heavy loads. dont try and drive like u normally do

 

Thats the problem with the rangers they are to light and skid very easy if you tow to much.

 

um no believe me its not (maybe the Mazda manuals are different). I'll look on the bumper/hitch.
