Throttle bypass valve - delete

On my 87 this valve is mounted on the airbox om the passenger front fender. I have removed the airbox and put on a CAI from the throttle body. Been this way since I put a new 2.3 long block in, now 4,000 miles. My question is can I disconnect the electrical plug and fully remove the valve. No longer hooked up to anything, just hanging there, tucked in the hole beside the heater. Will I get a check engine light or some code that will hurt anything.
