97 b4000 reg cab short box sas..
Ok soooo i'm going to do a sas on my 97 reg cab short box b4000, and i would have liked to use a EB dana 44.... but just cant find one around where i live...
but i'm getting payed to take a jeep xj to the scrap yard , and it has a dana 30 hp that i can have ... So i'm goimg to do a dana 30 sas for "now" and put in a rubi 44 when i find one ... I plan on doing it on a long weekend this summer and dont want to run into any problems because it is my dd. So a few things i need to ask -what i'm i going to need to start and finish this sas? -how much lift or how big of"coils" do i need to run 35s? -how big of shocks? -how long should the flex lines be -what kinda issues should i run in to? I would like for someone that has done this swape before to give me some input! I'm not looking for any negative input just someone that knows what there doing. |
5.5 eb coils or skyjacker 8 inch Ranger coils. I ran 23 inch flex lines. the front shocks are 28 inches extended and 17 compressed. I also have 6 inch skyjacker leaf springs with bell tech 6400 shackles and the factory block to make the truck sit right. If you are running the hp dana 30 your front drive line should work. The rear drive line will need no modification.
|
ok that helps alot with the parts! what about chevy leafs? i have a set that i can use?
|
o and well the shocks and coils just bolt right up to the jeep axle and my ranger mounts?
|
Are you doing radius arms, 3 or 4 link? The jeep axle will have mounts for a 4 link with panhard. But that will be the most time consuming and costly setup. They make radius arm kits for.xj's that will bolt up to the axle no problem with heims at the back. That would probably be the easiest route.
|
Ok so everything is ordered !! Just waiting on the 6 " long arm, got everything else !
-6.5 RC xj long arm -4:56 gears and master rebuild kits front and rear -Hp Dana 30 and new carrier -USA alloy cromo axles with manual locking hub convection for the front -31 spline ford 8.8 with rear disc -tire Grover ... To grove my swampers - my 36" tsls -The cross over steering from Rugged ridge - And the few odds and ends So far I'm in $5000.00 with the prices of the truck .... |

Nice stance! That's crazy low for an SAS. I hope mine sits that low. Those tires re a tad big though, looks like that rub pretty good on flex.
|
Nice looking truck!

Yeah 36s are insane. Look for some 33s.
But 8 inches is the norm for SASs |
If you clear them good enough, I'd keep the 36 maybe a 35x12.
I think it looks great the way it sits now. |
Wirelessly posted
Looks great! |

Those are huge man! Plan on trimming. I say MOAR LIFT. Looks really good though.
|
MOAR LIFT x2!!! I don't see how you can even turn with those things on there!
|
Ya it needs a bit more lift and some trimming but i only rubs at full steer .... And 4.0 and 4:56 thats how i turn them! Lol it still burns out but u can tell shes not happy when doing so lol
|
I didn't mean turn them as in being about to move. I meant I don't see how you're able to take turns with them lol Truck looks really good though!
|
Ok. when i did the sas i pushed the axle like 6" ahead, but when i got my alignment they moved it back about 2" so it rubs a bit at full crank but i need a new alignment ... so i well push it ahead and bring it in. The back needs some trimming to, but not much

That's a good looking truck... we need more pics though!
