sas with coils on 98

Im looking into all the stuff for my future swap, and part of the problem with going coils is that I have to remove my shock tower and put in a coil tower. I called james duff about their parts and the guy doesn't believe his tower for up to a 97 ranger will fit my frame. their parts are really expensive. im starting to think I may buy a set of towers online, I think they might be from jeffs bronco warehouse or something. I think I can bolt them to my frame and put some welds on them also. im basically converting my truck to 97 but adding sas. anyone with thoughts on this id appreciate the input

Oops, missed the SAS part, lol.

Yes I have thought about it, the guy at james duff said he felt it might be my best way to go because I want the truck to sit pretty much where it does now which could be a bit tricky with coils...if I end up with another inch of lift it would be ok, not less tho. I know rcd made a lift kit for my ranger with those.

Sas on ranger

I was reading some threads from guys that got dana 30s out of jeeps like I'm doing. They said the coil spring hits the frame and leans outward and were considering coilover. I'm now planning leafs
my buddy has a set that r 4 in lift so I'll just need hangers and shackles , probable a set of rear for my ranger but put em up front. And of course the piece of rectangular pipe that the front goes on the becomes it crossmember. It's not exactly what I want but sometimes u gotta give a lil

Sas on ranger

Ok, I'm pretty stubborn and I sat and pictured my ranger with a dana 30 and leads and didn't like the picture...then I changed it to coils and I liked it. I've read a few threads that guys say the dana 30 coil mounts don't line up well with ranger frames and the coil leans and may run frame. If I went leaf I'd have to cut coil seat off so if I cut it carefully and move it about an in outward and weld it back on. It might actually work...see what I mean about stubborn..lol

I'd suggest just buying new mounts rather than cutting and rewelding the factory ones.

Sas on ranger

Ya I thought about that, might be better idea..for now I gotta put a power steering pump on the 5.0..it went this morning...I figured it was either rack or pump but the fluid dripping down makes me think pump..but the rack could be leaking too...that would suck Cruz I'll be taking it out when I do sas

I got lucky, a steel line came out of a hose, power steering fixed...on the sas, most of my issues r the coil my brackets, the radius arms or lack thereof, if I go cheap and get ones off a ranger the have those big claws that bolt to top n bottom of the old ranger diff. I'd have to make something that takes their place. Or I get james duff ones that clamp to axle or similar ones. Once I figure the susp part I'm half way there
