#1 Bars on reg cab= FAIL
 

My F bars were maxed out and My rear was still a tad taller so I bought some used #1 bars. Well It rides like pure @ss. When I hit a bump it feels like im about to soar into outer space. thing is im only sitting level now, Figured I would need some chevy shackles but its level with the rear for some reason.

ya not enough weight in a reg cab for them stiff # 1s

take it you have a 3.0 too?

what do you expect when you crank your tbars? every time someone ask about cranking there tbars people say your truck is going to ride rough. this is a ranger not a caddy

I have B bars and it feels the same. Get used to it its not that big of a deal once you've driven like that for a while and its a truck so who cares

where did you set your adjusters when you put in those #1s?

Also have you gotten an alignment since?

I don't miss my '01 4x4 and the way it rode, I'll never buy another torsion bar Ranger unless its one heck of a deal

Yeah no doubt.. same with my old truck. I didnt realize how bad it was until I drove my Powerstroke for a month and then drove the '01 for a week or 2. Wow. I felt like I had whiplash from having my head bounced around all the time. My '98 with coil springs doesn't ride perfect, but it is soooo much better than the '01 was.

My gf gets carsick. She rode in my '01 one time, from her house to mine.. maybe 5 miles. She was carsick before we got to my house. I had decranked the torsion bars to put the truck lower than stock and you could still feel every single bump.

My Powerstroke doesn't have a dreamy ride, but not once has she ever even gotten even a little nauseous riding in it.

No I dont think you quite understand the difference in F bars and #1 bars on a 2wd reg cab ranger. It rode stiff before but now its just a wagon.

you talking about the bolts or the tear drop thing? Now that I think about it I didnt even look as to how they were placed stock...think thats my issue as far as height? and no allignment waiting to install my spindles next weekend

My 01 Edge rode like a brick with steel wheels but my 04 is much better. It takes bumps with ease but I haven't messed with the torsion bars. I don't need a really tall truck.

I know what you mean.. for the majority of the time that I drove the 2001, I had maxed the bars out, as well as AAL's in the rear. It rode terrible. But before I sold it to my mom, I put it back to stock. I actually left the rear blocks out and de-cranked the torsion bars further, and it still just rides terrible.

Its a ranger. If I wanted a smooth ride I wouldn't be driving a ranger.

lol before I sold mine I threw in some 1.25 blocks from an 08 and decranked my t-bars and agree it rode horrible. I love how my 04 rides especially with the AGX shocks it feels like it's crawling over the bumps instead of just flying up in the air.

That's too funny we did the same thing before we got rid of our 01s. My 04 is night and day difference and it's basically the same truck except a loaded 4x4.

I had #1 bars on my 3.0 reg cab back in the day. It wasn't bad but I wasn't running the sway bar. That makes a pretty big difference.

I sold the SVT when I bought my Powerstroke. The SVT was a blast to drive, but it just had too many bugs to work out..

a heavier duty shock will help slow the flying into the air.

I know that's what they say but I had the Bilstien HDs and I think it's just the 01-03 suspension. In 04 they redid the bushings and travel rates or something. I prefer a softer shock.

I have had f-150 and escort and multiple coil spring rangers. honestly my 2000 rides just fine. no issues even with class 1 it isnt harsh.

I don't get it. My 02 FX4 has the #1 t-bars and has been cranked up about 1.5 inches. I think it rides just fine. It rides softer than the 89 STX Supercab that I drove for 13 years. I guess the #1 bar would be too stiff for a regular cab. Then again, I don't expect it to ride like a car.

I think a lot of it is the shocks.
Granted my ranger was heavier (4x4 4.0L super cab), but it rode awesome with bilstein HDs, silky smooth with the sway bars disconnected.

Weight makes a huge difference in ride. Nevertheless, coilover's are the way to go if a good ride is important.

LOL. OP said the truck was too stiff with F-bars. And he went out and put in #1's!!?!?!?? LOL!! What'd he expect?


Love my #1's on my 4.0 4dr 4x4.

My #1's are maxed and mine rides actually really nice!! must be those dang crappy bilstiens!!:biggthump
