I'm thinking about lifting my 2000 xlt ext cab 3.0L ranger. I have been doing some reading and I think this is what I would like to do

Front
3" lift springs
3"lift spindles
new upper arms

Rear
4" blocks
maybe AALs but it should be level because the back is taller stock?

Shocks
Explorer pro comp es3000 should work right?

Wheels and Tires
15x10s but what backspacing should I use?
BFGoodrich Mud Terrain tires 35x12.50x15 they should fit right?

What gears should I get to make my truck run like it does now (stock) 4.56s or 5.13s?
also I going to get a powertrax for the rear end.

And down the road I might add coil spacers to the front and AAL if I dont do them when I do this, so it would be about 7-8 inches of lift

if your planning on getting 6" with the lift coils and spindles its going to screw up your camber royaly...

and if your going to use 4" blocks your going to want to think about getting some traction bars to prevent axle wrap

 

dont do 4 inch blocks, your axle wrap will be unbareable, do some chevy leaves, and a smaller block, possibly chevy shackles too but some say they are too weak for heavy wheeling.

and I recommend going with a 15x12.5 rim and 35x1 5x15, wider is better!

 

ok two things the chevy springs are lot stiffer and arnt the best of ride the best way is a like Deaver leaf pack its a little more $ but you get what you pay for. and the next thing

he cant fit those wheels are tires that comment isnt needed it confuses people who dont know more then anything.

 

I also am thinking about the rcd kit, is it a good kit, what do you think of it?

 

you have a 2wd truck the RCD kit is ment for 4x4's. sorry...

 

I was just at there website they have a 2wd kit, its a 6" lift

heres the setup im working on

front:
fabtech 2.5 lifting coil
fabtech upper arm (to go with the coil)
3inch liftin spindle

Rear:
explorer 4x4 4dr leafs
belltech chevy lowering shackle
Add a leaf

and a 3inch body lift over all


honestly, with your 6inch suspension lift i dont know if you able to run 35s, 4x2 lare lower stock compared to the edges and 4x4 since they have a different front suspension and a factory 2inch block in the rear, so they have a 2inch head start compared to you... You might have to do a full 9inch lift to run 35s

 

I have 6 inches of lift up front on my 199 2wd XLT and i have 33x10.50's. Theres 10 inches of clearence. It will work but it will be tight and rub a LOT. You should also do a 3 inch body lift if you are running 35's. And maybe some wheel spacers. It takes a lot of lift to fit 35's.

Man...alright, so you are talking about lifting your 2WD 9" and running 35's...why? I'll go ahead and be honest with you, from experience. Driving a lifted truck/SUV to that extent is fun, for about a month IF all you can do with it is cruise the parking lot at the mall (which is all yours would be good for). The only reason to have something like that IMO is if you can actually use it, so why not just buy a 4WD truck

 

i agree with 8lugzj, since your truck is 2wd (like mine) in my opinion, there is no need for a huge lift. I do plan on getting a powertrax too. If i were you, i'd say get a 3" lift of some sort and make it about a edge height, and run 31's or 32's. But honestly i wouldn't go crazy with a lift.

 

n3elz has 35s on his 2wd edge, and hes offroaded alot more then more 4x4 guys

also, you need to realize that a 9 inch lift on a xlt is compared to a 7inch lift on an edge

I think I'm going to go with the RCD kit and a 3 inch body lift.
But I have 2 more questions, with 15x10 wheels what backspacing should I use and I think I going to go with 4.56 gears will there be any noticable power difference with 35s vs stock?
