2wd XLT - coil springs and 31's

Hi, new to the forum and new to Rangers. Just got a '04 XLT 2wd long bed. I've read the tire sticky and done a lot of research here on the forum and online and still not 100% certain if 31" tires are for me.

The sticky says some trimming may be necessary when running 31" tires on a stock suspension. I don't want to do a lift. Does it make a difference when fitting 31's to a stock 2wd suspension if you are a coil spring or torsion bar? Do they sit the same height from the factory? (mine is coil). I am a bit confused because it seems generally most people say go for it, no rubbing, etc., but I've also come across a few online comments saying they do rub, you need some type of lift, etc. Thanks for any comments. Great forum!

Anyone? Any owners running 31's on a stock (2004 3.0) coil spring, 2wd Ranger?

I had a friend that had 31s on his 94 coil spring ranger with no lift (2wd). They didn't rub but they were also bald. It may be possible, but i (personally) wouldn't buy a brand new set without a lift on your truck. The torsion bar 2wd trucks sit up a few inches higher than the coil spring ones.

x2, i never tried bigger tires before i lift, i started out with 235-75-15s and went with a 3 inch spacer with 32-11.5-15s

You can run new 31s with only one issue I can see. if wheeled at all you may rub at lock but thats it.
