5.5" lift options and suggestions

hey guys,

hardly on anymore, but here is my truck so far from where i got it to now.

New:

July 19th:

Now, heres my dilemma. I am headed towards the 2WD long travel type of setup, i have my rims and tires, and i know exactly how i want this to look.

My trouble is deciding how i should lift it.

I could go buy the camburg 5.5 kit for the front and deavers out back, or i could get fabtechs 5.5 kit that gives me the lift, but limits the strength.

Now the only reason im considering the fabtech kit is one the price, saving me a few thousand over all, and the fact that i only off road once or twice a month.

im 50/50 on which to go for and would love some insight to each kit, as well as thoughts on what i should do.

camburg will cost about 3500 with deavers out back, and ill then have to buy fenders, or fabtech is 2000 and i wont have to buy fenders, but its not as strong a kit.

Thanks! happy wheeling!

if it were me id save and spend my money on the camburg kit. ive never heard anything negative about fabtech ranger kits but ive worked on fabtech lifts on tacomas and they are crappy imo... totally different truck but ive heard other things negative about fabtech. plus, camburgs stuff is super nice and bullet proof. no matter how you spin it, youll be happier with the camburg kit (maybe your wallet wont). just remember you get what you pay for.

Don't the fabtech kits have the spindle issue?

You get what you pay for. If your gonna jump the truck get the camburg. If your just gonna wheel the truck get the fabtech. If your gonna drive the truck on just the street get the fabtech.

ive decided to go with a mix. im going to get the camburg, and gusset kit. its 1950 plus shipping.

now heres why.

the fabtech kit is 1780 plus tax

so i figure its worth the extra.

out back im just going to run an addaleaf till spring, as i already have shocks that are long enough.

probably a wise choice.. im not too up on 2wd lifts or fabtech for that matter. but im pretty sure ive heard the name craptech toss around on here, broken spindles?

anyways.. good luck with the build, and as spilly says, you get what you pay for .. very true!

i have a 5.5 camburg kit upfront i love it but i drive like i have a trophy truck....it will tear the stock upper controll arm mounts id gusset the mounts before putting the kit on.other than that never broke anything....super strong kit my buddie has fabtec and has so many problems its stupid.

i also have devers in the rear stock shocks....Dever leafs are the way to go 100% never had a problem except for snapping the bolt that goes in the schackle on the mount.
