5" RC Lift kit wheel size??

Hey Folks,
So i have been reading about wheel fitment for the 5" lift kit from Rought Country and I'm reading that some people have gotten away with running 15" and 16" rims with the kit. The RC website says that they need to be 17" or larger. i would rather run a smaller rim such as a 15 or 16, would I just need a high offset rim if I would go smaller?
Thanks

The further the lip of the wheel is away from the steering knuckle, the better the wheel will clear. That's the main reason I've heard for why they suggest a 17" wheel. What you're really looking for is a wheel with the right amount of backspacing. The least amount of backspacing between the rear lip and the hub of the wheel, the better.
