6" lift 31" tires
hey i am ordering a 6" superlift i realy want 6" but i only have 31" A/T tires i dont have any money to go and buy the lift and then tires and wheels on top of that. eventualy i will get bigger tires its just that i dont want to go with a smaller lift because i will get bigger tires eventualy and would not like to do the lift thing all over again.. but would my truck look absolutly discustingly grose with 6 inch lift 31 inch tires
dose anyone wone know were i could go and get some used bigger tires like would any offroad stores sell me tires they are tossing out that another costomer got replaced?? thanks |
yea, it's gonna look hella stupid. Search craigslist.com and your sunday paper ask around. You can always find used tires.

Do either what Eric said or just get the lift, but set it aside until oyu get bigger tires, then install them both together.

It will look RETARTED....trust me, dont do it....
I rode around on my stock 31" goodyears and teardrop wheels after i got my 3" bodylift done....Rode it around like that for 6 months till i got new tires/wheels....I wish i would of just left it untill i had new wheels and tires. btw, i didint know superlift made a 6" kit for rangers? |
Super lift used to make custom height lifts for 100 and inch over 4". But last I heard they stopped that practice.

well the tire recomendation for the 5.5 inch superlift is a 32 or so it says on the web site so would it be that much smaller??

buy the lift and set it in the garage until you can buy tires.

im just soo exited to put it on i dont think that looks to bad for a wile untill i get bigger tires but i could do that for a month and a bit untill i get new ones i think

What he said. Superlift said poo on the ranger after 97, and only offered the 4". But they also cut back on production of the pre98 kits, so its sometimes hard to find one. But i might have one in my future, I can get almost anything threw my new job. :ninja: |
well i got my truck back (it was getting a clutch and slave cilader and fly wheel macined) and then orderd my lift but i did find out that my 4X4 shop is having a sale later this month on super sampers so thats a consideration so stokeed for my lift ill post pics of befor and after

ok i have spindles and the t-bars cranked which measured out to about 5.5" of lift on my edge and im running 31's. It doesnt look that bad but it looks weird. I went from 35's down to the 31's since i blew two out and couldnt afford to replace them. Now my truck does mostly sit since im not homw to drive it but it doesnt look bad. I dont have pics though cuz im 700 miles from it.
If you can, wait and do it at one time but if you must it wont look too bad. |

Oh okay cool. Dude **** cutting stuff. I seriously recommend just going fullsize. Find a 9 inch axle from the back of any large pickup that is the same witdth as that 79 dana 44. It should be very easy to find. You'll save money instead of cuttin down an axle and geting new axle shafts with new bolt pattern. Aaron |

It's silly to pay 200 bucks, you didnt even say how much its gonna cost for new rear axle shafts. On top of that, i believe "034x4" said that he wanted bigger axles because even with his he has had to cut into the bed. With the bigger tires you'll have you'll still have rubbing unless you do the gobs of lift..which'll look "silly". But whatever you wanna do. It'd just be better fullsize, much more stable too. Ford ranger tranny question...
So lets say i got with the 6 inch lift on my ranger and i get the apropriet size tire... larger that 31s... dont you have to also get the transmission re geared so it don't blow up on you in a month or so??? cuz i wanna get a 6 inch with some big tires but if i go over 31s im worried ima burn up my tranny... :indiffere

Yup, you'd want a 33" or a 35" tire w/a 6" lift. Some guys recommend 4.10 but others say 4.56 is ideal. Especially if you get the 35's. I forget if 4.56 or 4.88 is the largest you can get w/ our axles.

I ran 6" of lift with 31's for a long time. It isn't that bad. Do what you wanna do bro, nobody is stopping you. Have fun with your truck.
