Anti-wrap bar

I know there are threads upon threads about this topic.. but i have a new question i dont think i've seen before.

I've seen people make a solid mount anti wrap bar, i thought one i saw was from spidertrax? i know its not ideal but how well do they work? I cant afford 12' of DOM right now and i really need to do something about the horrendous amounts of axle wrap i have.

Its one link from the bottom of the axle up to where ever.

yea by link i meant link to a photo. and like i said earlier. theres not way thats gonna limit axle wrap. unless it go to the top of the axle too. if it did and had a slip joint or a shackle on the frame side, that would be a good antiwrap bar.

I'm getting that bracket from Ruff Stuff for the anti wrap bar, I'll build it with just the single link and go drive around, if i really needs it i'll order more **** and put the upper one on.

I'm gonna end up with 1.25x.120 if the steel yard has that.. ruff stuff couldnt get any adapters for 1.25 ID for a 3/4" heim in time, and they were sold clean out of 7/8 heims.. Ballistic was almost $90 for 3 heims (at 8.50 each) and the rest of the junk i needed

When you are mounting it, I have heard of people mounting it as close to the D-shaft as possible, and just a C-hair lower if you can. It will act as almost a skid plate for the D shaft.

Matt I sell the same brackets.... In case your wondering, and mine aren't as bulky.

PM me if you're interested. I actually have 4 31pline brackets cut and 4 28 spline brackets cut.

The solid link seems like it's not going to serve the purpose you want, the 2 point system holds the axle stationary on one axis yet allowing it to move up and down when flexing as long as a shackle is put in.

i already ordered them. for some reason i want to think it will work better with more seperation.. i can make the tube that isn't the main one longer before they come together.

i know i need a top one, i have what i think is a 5/8" heim at home i can stuff up top if need be.. but i still need a weld in bung/spacers for it.. so i might as well get another 3/4" heim. stupid katemcy

I re made my brackets to have the top and bottom holes 7in on center, rather than 6in like mine.

Either way they work. I can guarantee that!

well it turns out I dont work next saturday either.. soooooo no need to rush, i'm still going to use 1.25x.120 DOM cause thats all i can get my hands on locally.. but I'll be trying the shackle design out. Once i get back from katemcy i'll buy some of Ballistics over priced tube adapters and tube for some 1.5x.250 DOM

so i have it made, installed.. i can kinda feel a difference.

is the back of the truck supposed to pick up more when you mash on it?

and who can explain why the shackle has to go up from the mount to the bar.. and why the bar cant hang below the mount.

Yeah, my back end picks up big time when I mash on mine. Putting it in reverse makes the back end squat big time. So you have it right. I could tell just normal driving how much axle wrap I had. That's what blocks will do to leaf spring suspension lol

Not sure on the shackle mount though... Seems like it won't serve the same purpose if it's on the bottom end of the mount rather than the top. To me it seems like it would bind more.

the *** end kinda bounces a little.. but its not bad.

the truck seems to stop better now, i can really tell the difference when i lay into it in reverse.

I had to move the pass. shock to the back of the axle, but i probably should have still put the axle mount for the bar more towards teh middle.

if you had 1.5" .25 wall it would be pretty beefy. now .120 wall i agree

its not going to allow the axle to become closer or farther away. which i would think it will need so it will likely bind.
