Does anyone have the part numbers for the driver and pass side of the rangers that have #1 torsion bars... I tried searching didnt find anything, maybe i didnt look hard enough.

sorry to get off trace but i thought i would ask here and not start a new thread. but thats the difference in stock torsion bars and #1 and the others

 

spring rating... #1s are the stiffest Bs are the middle and Fs are the weakest.

 

so is it personal pref to go with one over the other or is it recommendedto upgrade to #1

well different model rangers come with different rated torsion bars.... look on the door tag on the driverside under SRG and it should say something like BBKK or 1CC. But if you want more lift then #1 bars are the best. Plus im getting a winch bumper and winch so the #1s will hold the front end up more than my B bars which sag already.

well i cant talk...... i asked the same thing last summer.

 

Depends on the application. For those that want a cranked torsion bar, the #1's are most sought after because they are the bars the provide more lift with less cranking of the adjuster bolt. They last longer cranked than the other rating bars (hold more weight with the more cranked they are) and they give a stiffer ride, which some prefer in a truck over the soft bars. Also with less cranking of the bars with the same amount of lift you take un-needed stresses off the ball joints and TRE's (smaller angles/less angle).

That about answers the #1 bars questions.

 

They don't provide the most lift and they lift the same amount as the other rated bars.......they better hold that 'lift' compared to the weaker bars. Plus I like a nice firm ride...#1's did that for me. Again...you do not gain more lift from them, you merely can better hold that lift because they wont sag as much as weaker bars...so you'll keep that 'lift' longer.

Alot of a gain with going with new bars, is the lack of sag twist in them. The more the bars are cranked, the weaker they get and the faster they get worn out. Thats true for all bars.

 

ordered the #1s today... 236, and will be here tomorrow. left was 117 and right 118

superlift wheels and tires will be ordered in a week or so.

If you have access to a shop with air tools you can do it yourself and save about $500+ in labor for the install.

 

well the shop that is installing my lift kit said they will do it for no extra charge, since the torsion bars will be off anyway.

by the way, is one of the t-bars suppose to be an 1" or 2 shorter than the other???

 

im thinking about pricing them out soon as well, im planning on getting the older torsion keys , so would i be wise to upgrade to #1 bars while im at it??..

little off topic, but do you mind me asking what your paying for the superlift?? my buddy got a rough estimate from a relatively local offroad shop.. they wanted roughly 1200 for a body lift and around 5g for the superlift, installed!!! i know the SL kit is a bit more expensive in canada but i didnt realize the the labor would be like half of the f'n cost?!?! or maybe that shop is just ridiculous.. had my heart set on suspension not body lift so ill have to shop around..

 

im getting the superlift for 1437 and the shop is charging 750 for install... that includes the front driveshaft the torsion bars and my add a leafs and shackels. and 1390 for wheels and tires mounted balanced with center caps and lug nuts.
