EDGE 4x2 suspension on standard 4x2?
Hopefully by the end of this year or so if the car hangs in there, I might be in the market of another Ranger. At 1st it was an EDGE Supercab 4x2 SOHC auto, then leaning more on the 05/06 Reg. cab XLT longbed 4x2 WITH an SOHC, which is a few grand cheaper then the EDGE. Rebates could be better. I have a diamond plate toolbox and black housing clears ready in case hehe. Question is would it be possable to have the front EDGE 4x2 suspension (spindle/t-bars) fitted on the XLT 4x2 chassis or someone who have done it? Some ppl say it will not but thought i'd ask. The rears are no problem. Afterwards 30"/31"s with Bilsteins.
There are 3" spindles but it would sit too high and also checked out the 2" coilover lift from Daystar but only for the 83-97 models unless that fits. I like the XLT reg cab long bed with an SOHC and imagine the power it has haha!!

I am sure the conversion is much like the situation i faced when i had my eclipse.
I had a 1991 Eclipse GS. Car was in perfect condition and had all factory body kits that belonged to the GSX and it had 1995 GS wheels. i was looking at putting a turbo engine in it, so i wanted to find a donar car. I found a 1991 Plymouth Laser RS. It has some rear end and front end dmg, was pretty much totalled, but it had enough of the front end that I could have swapped the suspension. I then realized i was running into problems. The motors, how they monted and such, didnt bolt right up. I needed to swap suspension too. It began to look like a nightmare. Even though i was getting an engine with less miles on it with a turbo (the whole car) the trouble in doing the swap was tremendous. Needless to say, the 800 bucks the Laser would have cost me was still not worth all of the converting I would have had to do.
Bottom line, it would be cheaper to sell and buy an Edge. Unless you just like wasting money, IMO.
