Suspension Tech General discussion of suspension for the Ford Ranger.

Can anyone tell me what this does?

94 ranger 4.0 2wd. There is a small shock or strut on my frame that’s next to the coil. What should this connect to?

That's an engine vibration dampner. Not really necessary but I think they are on all 4.0 OHVs. Not sure about the later SOHCs. I've heard they wear out after a couple years and you'll never know. Should attach to frame as shown and somewhere on the side of the engine. I haven't seen a replacement. Ford just stopped putting them on at some point.
