4x2 Suspension Lift- More Expensive?
I recently contacted a business about buying 3'' spindles and Pro Comps shocks to simply raise/lift my 2wd Ranger. One of the customer service reps. contacted me via email telling me that, "I'd need more more than just the coils and shocks and leaf to raise the truck while keeping some form of handling intact." And that "Thats were the extra loot comes in. Either it comes by the spindle replacement or the coil ball joint setup." I DIDN'T think that there was this much to it, and if I have to spend what he said for the kit? Then I'll order the kit from mustang, but yeah. Is this true? I didn't think that the underside was SO different between a 4x4 and a 4x2. Not in the area of a couple hundred more just to do a simple lift, anyways.
Any help would be appreciated. I just didn't THINK it was so complicated. Forgive me for my ignorance.

As far as I know you can lift a 2wd XLT with just a spindle and you might need the camber kit. It doesn't give you anymore travel, so you don't need a new shock. Then you can add AALs and Shackles to the rear. That's the cheap way to do it.
Of course, for someone that's going to make commision off your sale, the RIGHT way to do it would be to order the 5.5" Ultimate lift and super-expensive Reservior shocks, right?

He also said that the ProComps and the 3'' spindles would have to match up, so he needed a bolt to bolt measurement of the spindle. Wouldn't any 3' lift work with a shock for my truck type?

As far as shocks, if you have the stock ones, they will work with the spindles, but if you have aftermarket shocks, it may be a different story.
But I would assume, once again, that if you were using ProComp spindles and Procomp shocks, they should work fine together.
The best way to do it is to buy some Heavy Duty Bilstien OEM Shocks for the front with the Procomp Spindles.
