coil spring compressor options

I checked with AutoZone and Checker last week for coil spring compressor availability for renting. They only have internal compressors and strut compressors. The checker's guy thought the strut compressor would work until I informed him I'd be compressing 600 and 700 lbs coil over springs.

So, what would be reliable, safe options in the form of compressing these sagged RCD coil overs for removal and the installation of hypercoils I have arriving this week? I can check harbor freight tomorrow, as well as smears [sears] as those are my only remaining options it seems, at least locally.

maybe do yourself a favor adn swing down to the local heavy truck/machines shop.. look for a place with a huge multi-car garage with a bunch of tractors around and big trucks and such, Im sure they would have somethign you could probably borrow off for a bit, maybe bring in soem tools and do the work there? I've had to do this before with an old Bronco I used to own.

That was also a thought. Apparently Big-O tires here use to install RCD kits. Only problem is they are super **** about letting you into or around service bays.

I may have to just do the same. I looked at sears.com and they seemed to have a pretty heavy duty one. If my local store has it in stock I'll check it out. Otherwise it's a trip to El Pisso (er, um El Paso).

try to make sure the "claws" are as thin as possible. the issue i had with the strut spring compressor i used was it was too thick to fit comfortably between the coils of the spring.
