You probably would want around 8-10". It really depends on where your mount points are going to be. And I dont know if I would mount it to the coilover hardware. Just seems like a no no to me.
Look at this post. Its how most Ive seen are done.

hi guys. I love the coil over conversion. I'm definitely going this route with my ranger. I hate the selection of shocks for torsion bars and I hate the torsion bars. those billsteins look pretty sweet. I was wondering what people recommend for rear shocks after putting a remote reservoir on the front. I was thinking of going fox or bilstein for the front. I'm staying stock, I'm not going with a lift at the moment. my truck says 11 inches of travel is what these crappy cheap monroes have and a fox remote reservoir 2.0 shock with 11 inches of travel is a little long when compressed all the way. just wondering what other people have tried to match the front. no one really talks about the back. thanks.

I see. It sounds like that downsouth place is definitely the place to deal with. Ill have to give them a call and see what they tell me. I'm just gonna stay stock height for now. I just bought some helo rims and 31x 10.50 mickey Thompson mtz's. other than that its bone stock. I'm gonna fab my own brackets for the front. thanks for the reply.

It looks like not many people go with the remote reservoir. I probably don't need them but I'm getting them anyhow. fox basically makes the same size shocks with or without the remote reservoir. I may have to lower my bottom rear shockmount an inch so that I know I wont bottom the shock out.

It shouldnt be too harsh with 800lb springs. I have 850s on mine and it rides fine. I wanna go down maybe to 750 but i cant get the one extended eyelet off.

Good to know. I may have to do a spring swap when the plow in no longer on the truck and the Cummins goes in

Bought them used. I have a set of 650s and 750s to try also.
That is good stuff to know. Ill have to take a look at that.

This thread is a wealth of knowledge and I know what set-up I want to run, but not many people have touched on the bump stops. From what I've read they need to be cut off at the frame and new ones welded on? or do new ones bolt in place? I have a 4.0 4x4 so I know from what I've read they will hit the coil-over.

I am going with coilovers and i was wondering what all else i need up front if i want to go with the 6.5 fox shocks and 12 inch coils instead of stock, the 5 inch shock and 10 inch coil. I kind of want more suspension travel than the stock will have. I am gonna order the deaver f31 leafs for the back and can run them at stock height but it seems like it would make more sense to run them with the shackle not flipped upside down to get 2.5 inches of lift.

Thanks. Ill check that out. I was looking and havent been able to find the specs on our trucks stock claimed suspension travel. I know the shock is 5 inch travel but i was wondering what they say it is out at the wheel. Let me know if u cant get hold of shawn (me00stepside). Its 290$ for the kit and 17$ shipping. I was so glad he was still making the brackets. I didnt want to take the time to make them all myself. Its a lot of thinking.
