A Couple AAL Questions
A Couple AAL Questions
I have heard a couple people around here are running a long and a short AAL or both
1. is this a good idea to run both?
2. what is different about a short and a long?
3. what one would be better for towing?
4. will having both give me more lift?
I know if i run both i have to make the C clip things so they dont twist out.
W.e else anyone wants to tell me about them would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I think the longer one is stiffer than the shorter one, thus giving more lift and I would assume be better for towing. Both would probably give you more lift than one but the ride without a load in the back would be pretty stiff. Why not just run one AAL and get a chevy drop shackle?
Im thinking if getting drop brackets too i had just heard about running 2 AALs and i was curious about it. i have never riden in a truck with AALs so i wouldnt know about the ride
2. Length is the difference (Couldn't resist being a smartass)
3. No idea.
4. Yes

I just installed the short AAL and the drop bracket. It gave me plenty of lift and the rear end feels great. not too stiff and not all mushy either. I should be able to get pictures up tomorrow if you would like
I run a ProComp short AAL and a Belltech 6400 (2" chevy drop) shackle. Feels great! Ride is nice and firm, but not too firm...yet not mushy either like Ory just said. If you do TWO aal's, it would confuse the leaf i'd think....plus you'd probably run out of U-bolt threads. Both stacked up would add lift, yes.
