Hey guys I'm purchasing an 8in skyjacker lift for my 96 ranger,was wondering whats the biggest size i can fit with the 8in? Also My truck has the tow package or whatever it is with 4.10 gears, should i upgrade to 4.56's or will the 4.10's be alright, its a stock 3.O automatic.

 

your gonna want a bigger motor, i work at a wheel and tire shop and if you dont already know the tires you plan on doing weigh alot. lets just say they are so heavy i hate doing them. but with that out of the way i say go with 35s do something like 35x14.5 super swampers from summitracing.com make sure they are the tsl boggers.

i like them. but im on bags so i will never own a set. good luck.

ooo and i almost forgot. get some power adders cuz i have the 3.0 auto in mine and its pretty weak.

 

what else can i get besides an underdrive crank pulley ,i dont want no cold air **** cus I'll be wheeling and i can see that being a problem

 

yea i could see that being a problem also. get a chip, exhaust and jba headers. that will be more then enough help out. just remember when adding bigger wheels and tires you are adding weight that can equate to less gas mileage and performance.

 

Jey's (034x4) running 38s with a 3.0!! And so is RyanRebel! There is a guy form Colorado on here that has the 8" skyjacker kit and he runs 36" IROKs, So I would guess that a tall 33 or 35 would fit. Let me see if I can find the pics of his truck!

Oh yeah, for gears, find out how tall your stock tires were and divide the tire size you want by the old tire size, then multiply that number by the stock gear ratio, and that will tell you what gear ratio you need. For example, my truck:

35" / 28.8"(235/75R15) * 4.10 = 4.98

Although Jared and Zach Beard both have 4.56s in their trucks with 35s. They said the 4.88 (what you would need in this case) were too tall.

 

So just go with a 35in swamper instead of 38's. Dont know where I'm getting the lift from,does anyone know where i can get skyjacker kits that are a little cheaper than $1150

 

Im pretty sure Jared had 4.88's. But the 4.56 with 35's should bring you pretty close to what stock was with 4.10's.

 

look on summitracing.com i saw some lift kits on there they might have the skyjacker on there. and if its more then what you are looking to pay juust remember that they will give you prolly the best service around.

 

Summit didn't have the 8" kit for the 3.0L, but you can always call them and ask.

I found it on 4wheelonline.com, the kit is about 1100 or so, but I would invest in the system, you'll be happy you did. You get leafsprings instead of AALs and Blocks.

I have the 8" skyjacker w/ 2" blocks in the rear and 2" spacers in the front... so about 10" lift... I have 36x13.50xR15 Iroks... I had 37s, but they scrubbed just a tad... I should have gone w/ 35's for flex purposes... I had 5.71 gears in my 8.8 (Just swapped my rear D44 in this weekend!!!) but now I have 4.10's... I havent driven it yet, but I will let you know how the 4.10's handle... should know tomorrow hopefully!!!

yea, you should be able to run 35s comfortably and 37s should even fit fine, but with the 3.0 you will definitly want to run 5.13s for gears (largest made for the TTB D35 front axle) i wish i could go to 5.13s when i lift, but the largest they make for the front axle i'll be using are 4.88s so ill just have to live with it.
