Some one local is selling 2 new torsion lift keys meant for a 00-04 dakota. i can get them for half the price of new ranger keys so i was wondering if the keys were the same size or if the different models used different keys.

 

Its highly unlikely that they would fit your ranger. I wouldn't take the chance, in fact I'd skip the torsion key idea all together.
