i need a quick answer here i was putting new shocks on my 90 and my front lower shock stud snapped. can it be replaced? how hard would it be?

 

yes, you should be able to get a repair kit from any good auto parts store.

 

they didn't have but i got a bolt that should work but i can seem to pound the old one out is there an easy way to do it?

 

a punch or screwdriver and a bfh. Apply liberal amounts of elbow grease.

 

would i pound it out from the back or pound it in? cuz i realy can't seem to get a good angle for the back

 

i wouldn't use just a bolt.

call around, im sure someone has a repair kit, i think mine was less then $10.

 

k i'll see what i can up with. but how would the old one pound out?

 

if i remember correctly, its a rivet that they pound in from the back.

get a large hammer and hit the outer part of the bolt.

or you can get a torch and cut it out, thats what i did.

 

well i couldn't seem to pound it off. so i just used a grinder and drilled it out. after getting the part to fix it from auto zone thx for all ur help

its fairly simple to install.

 

yeah it was easy to install once the old one was out.

 

I'm confused. If its a 90, and its the bottom mounting stud that broke, isn't it just a bolt that goes through a flangle, the shock, and then the radius arm? And the bolt broke? Is all this correct? And what is this "repair kit" I have been hearing about. What does it contain and what is it meant to repair? I'd appreciate you clearing these things up for me.

 

yes it was on a 90 and the stud was like welded or pressed in there. so i just cut it off then drilled the hole out. and put this in there. http://www.autozone.com/R,NONAPP5797...ductDetail.htm but i didn't use the bushings.

 

Well, I'm glad you got it out. Sorry I wasn't of more help, I'm only on this forum every couple of days. Mine wasn't stuck in there, its was just really tough to pound it out after the nut was off. It was like the bolt was too big, so I went and bought new bolts. I still have the bolts, but the threads are full of bushing material. Just glad you got your figured out.
