front wheel bearing, explorer and ranger the same???

So it's time to replace a wheel bearing on the '03 4.0L 4x4 ranger as one is falling apart but I was wondering, is the bearing assembly for the 95+explorer the same unit that the ranger uses? The explorer one is actually in stock and it is quite a bit cheaper... I know the 98-00 guys can use them to upgrade to the live axle setup, but are they the same as the '03 ones? and the '03 has 4-wheel ABS like the explorers. Thank you for the responses you have.

I don't think so. I just looked the explorer ones up on ebay and they do not list the ranger under what they will fit. here is the add that gives you the list.

yea but if that were the case then why can the explorer hubs and axle shafts be used to convert the PVH rangers to a live axle setup?

Yes they will fit. I used 99 explorer hubs on mine. The ABS sensors are the same as well. The explorer ones plugged right in.

awesome, thats what I was hopeing to hear, someone who has actually used the explorer ones on their ranger, and an '03 at that. The explorer ones are only 160 bucks and in stock at autozone. I don't like most of autozones products but they carry timken and as far as bearings and seals go I have always liked timken. Thank you so much.

although are you 2wd or 4wd as your profile says both and its an edge and has a spindle lift?

It was 2wd. I did the 4x4 conversion. Maybe its time I change my profile lol forgot it said that in there.

When I did the conversion I used the CVs and knuckles from an '03 ranger and I used the hubs from a '99 explorer.

Thank you so much, installed the 99 explorer hub tonight and it was all perfect and saved me a load of money. I think it's time to order one online cheap and just keep it on hand for when another one goes out.
