Ok, I want to lower my truck, however, the roads in New Orleans suck! So I wanna make it adjustable. I don't have the money to bag it, so I was wondering how much it would cost to install hydraulics and would I be able to do it myself or would I have to have a pro do it? i don't know much about suspension or anything like that. I DO know a lot about electronics though.

 

I am pretty sure it would be cheaper for bags but I dont know.

 

bags bust real easy in new orleans. our roads are crap and railroads are worse. especially in the part of town kyle lives in.

 

I had heard that Hydro's were cheaper now since they're older technology, but that could be wrong. And the crappy roads were the reason I'd rather get dro's.

 

You've gotta get lots of batteries set up for hydros so it'd be heavy and expensive. Go with a decent static 2/3 drop and be sure your tires have some good sidewall to them. Low-profile tires will bend rims left and right on bad roads.

Air ride is alot better, i cant stand hydrolics.....Im sure the bags wont bust when you hit pot holes...My friend busted one on his s10 once, but not because of that....you would be better off doing air ride...

okay, so no dro's, i guess their more expensive. I was thinking I might just go with the 2/3 static drop, then in the future drop it more to like 4/5 or 5/5. Thanks guys.

 

hey man, i live in NO, and i have never had a bag bust on me...if ur setup is correct, u shouldnt have to suffer anything more than a leak, the guy that bagged mine is gettin ready to bdrop mine and i can give u his number if u ever decide to run bags, just dont go dros, not where we r from at least...i kno all about the streets, but ur more likely to bend a rim with the potholes that we got rather than blow a bag....hope this helps man

A nice 4/5 drop with some good shocks and a notch in the back and it will ride smooth...

 

Well, I'm tight on cash, so I'll prolly go with the 2/3, then the shocks, then the 4/5. I can get there gradually.

 

trust me bags ride real good with a decent set of shocks. the only hard part of the install is just notching the rear. and for the steering arm. other then that its pretty straight forward. you will want some 3inch dropped ibeam from DJM to help correct your suspensions alignment. and if you install it make sure you make enough room between bag and wheel/tire so you dont rub on it and need a new bag every week.

on the downside if the company that did your setup in the rear completely ****s it up then you get to redo it. the dumbasses at CR fabricatoins here in sac ****ed mine up so now the only peice of work they did thats staying is the notch in the rear.

but yea i vote bags. i wanna see more people out here with bagged rangers.

and its not that bad on bumpy roads. where i go to school a road can legally be dirt with gravel over it. so its not that bad. and for rims id say stay around 17s, i have 45 series on my 17s and havent bent a rim yet, even on some nasty potholes.

yea bags are really not that expensive compared to hydrolics...hydro's require a crap load of batteries..i say bag it..you can bag it for 1300 bucks. for the kit

 

plus my 1/2 inch valves are just as fast as hydros, if not faster


and i envy you guys for having control arms lol
