Well, some of you might have noticed on ORR, but I finally got the opportunity to get the ball rolling on a major mod. I've snagged a fairly new use RCD kit. Aaron at DBR had it. With it I'm also snagging a pair of 7-pack Deavers. The money went out today so I'm pretty excited.

I'm curious though. The deavers give the truck a 2.5 inch lift in the rear. As OEM the truck already has 2.5 inch blocks. The RCD kit utilizes the OEM blocks and puts an AAL in, plus the RCD shackle (the used kit didn't have the shackles so I'm seeing if a local 4x4 shop can order a pair). IIRC the RCD shackle and AAL raise the rear end ~3 inches from stock. So what I'm trying to figure out now is will the rear bilsteins that come with the kit fit with just the RCD shackle and 7-pack deavers? Since the deavers lift 2.5 inches I'm assuming I won't have need for the OEM blocks, but I have worry over that as the blocks are what make contact with the bumpstops in the rear end.

On a similar note, it may be a while until I get everything installed. I need to now save up for new brake pads (the used RCD kit from DBR is coming with 11.25 rotors so I'm set there) and calipers for the conversion from the 12 inch rotor to 11.25. I'm also contemplating how goofy I may or may not look with the alcoas and 33x10.5x15 BFG MTs. I'm not the bit worried about the "pizza cutter" (I'm more function over form) look so much as I'm worried about the tires being in OEM location because of the alcoa backspacing. I like the look of a slightly wider stance, aside from it's functional aspect of adjusting CoG, but I truthfully am not too crazy about meats REALLY sticking out.

Ehh, I'm just too happy right now with me finally getting my truck in the direction I want it and I have tons of jumbled mush brainstorming in my peanut.

 

Welp, if you can hold out a little while, I'm getting rid of my wheels/tires. I'd let em go for what I paid for the tires...I can probably do that price shipped too.

Also, the deavers and RCD shackle will be the same as if you had stock block/aal/shackle. No worries there.

 

I think the backspacing of the Alcoas is wrong. You might need to get new wheels or you may have clearance issues with the RCD steering knuckles. I'm not positive, but I think I remember hearing something about that.

The Alcoa's will work with the RCD. Looks, well that’s up to you. Sean ran the same wheel/tire with all terrains. I'll bet he has more pics

 

umm you dont need to buy new calipers... just install the 11.25 rotor instead of the 12" and reinstall all of your 04 stuff... trust me i know
