Lift and 33's

Hi, I am looking into getting a 3 inch body lift and 33's for my 02 FX4 XLT, I have 265's right now. How bad will my gas milage go down? Will the lift and bigger tires have more wear on the vechile. I travel about 15 min each way to work everyday. Thanks you

You should have 4.10 gears so you'll notice a little drop. I would expect between 1-2 city and highway shouldnt change much. The bigger tires of course will have more wear on the vehicle but it won't be anything dramatic. The lift won't change wear at all.

What gears do you have in it now? Probably 4.10's. As it is, you have 32" tires, with the 33's your mileage will barely drop. Probably .5-1 mpg. As long as you do the body lift right, there should be no extra wear and tear. Same thing goes for the tire, you already have 32's and you are only going up a half inch. So I would say no more wear and tear than what you already have.

Body lifts really aren't hard at all, I did mine almost by myself in a weekend.

Not really. Just think things through, and take it slow. You mentioned that you are getting a shop to do it. If your not happy with it, take it abck and have them re-do it,

Right after I lifted my truck and got my 33s, my gas mileage dropped around 1/2 a mpg. Then I got my engine wet (the inside) and it dropped to about 11 mpg, the fixed it and was up to 18 mpg at one point, now it's back around 15 mpg. and I have 3.73s and an auto. So 33's don't really hurt mileage that bad.

As far as lift goes, it isn't that complicated, it's just somewhat time consuming. Take off body/bed mounts, insert blocks, remount. Just make sure you have all the tools and parts before you start. It took me and another guy around 12 hrs (including 4-5 trips to the auto parts store).

So what lift is the best package, It would be nice if everything came with it so I dont have to run back and forth picking up stuff.

Crank your torsion Bars instead of that. It's achieves the same goal and it's free!! Don't wast your money.

he had 265s not 32s. 265s are smaller than 31s i know. but anyway, there wont be any huge changes in anything. except look

Do you want suspension lift or a body lift? With a body lift go for either Performance Accessories, or the Summit Racing brand. If you want suspension, you get get Superlift's 4 inch kit. And that it lol

I saw better overall mileage with 32s and stock 4.10s...

around town the truck will get worse mileage with 33's. but on the highway, you should see some really good numbers. your rpms will drop, but not drop too much so that you wont be in the powerband of torque anymore. 33s and 4.10s should be just about perfect for economical numbers.
