Easiest way to lower is get a set of lowering springs, they work pretty good and ride quality is good, only thing is watch for negative camber when lowering, ranger don't have camber adjustments from factory but you can buy inserts called slugs to correct for negative or positive camber situations up to +/- 4 degrees or so. Another way is using lowering beams called "Dream Beams" these drop your front end approximately 2 to 3 inches, they use standard springs, shocks and ball joints and should maintain the factory camber set on your truck without adjustment.
Price wise springs will cost maybe between 100 to 150 and the slugs around 50 for a set, the dream beams will cost you between 300 to 400 last time I checked.

Good luck.
