My chevy spring swap. 06 FX4

So a few weeks ago i started my chevy 64" spring swap, just going to toss up some pictures and **** here. in case anyone is interested.

last year i cracked a leaf in my stock leaf pack, couldnt find any chevy's at the time and needed the truck in good shape since i was still DD it at the time. so i tossed in some used ranger springs. Did the trick and are still good.

couple weeks ago i found some chevy 64's in prime condition. Guy had em sandblasted, coated in a rust preventitive coating, then painted. really nice springs.

pic of chevy's vs my old ranger leafs

for some reason my driver side hanger was bolted on, no complaints here! saves grinding right by the gas tank.

you'll also note the frame cleanup. I hit it with a wire wheel and hit it with rubberized undercoating.

and the bed back on, total added height over the way it sat before is about 2 inches.

thats with removing the stock block. (its on top so it can still be effective as a bump stop pad)

the tire was off the ground just barely in all these. No locker so the second it had weight off it i was going nowhere. Open diffs/limited slips suck. limited by the fact i still have stock shocks on. had about 2" more before it leaves the ground with proper length shocks

Your truck looks great and I'm sure the ride is much improved over stock.

A few things to note... the block is installed incorrectly (upside down) and realistically, you should never have a block between the leaf pack and spring plate. I would recommend getting the proper length u-bolts and taking the block out. This is a safety and functionality concern, not a visual nit-pick.

If you're bent on keeping it in there, make sure you flip it over.

Dana 30 with coilovers. Once that's done I'll toss on 35's and be good for a while. Till I get bored. Then I'll do Dana 60's and toss on 40's lol.

Yep. Shackles sure are backwards lol. Brothers doing, but that's fine as well. Temporary till I get new ones. Just tossed it back together so I could pickup my axle. Its not being driven now.

And no the blocks cant be flipped. One side has a pin and the other has a hole. Can't flip the blocks over or it won't fit. Trust me lol. I tried.
