no i'm talking about chris, bought bolts that would fit the RCD brackets not the Coil overs since the holes in the fox coil overs are a little smaller

i'm sure you could, you would just need shorter shocks

So is it possible to take an unlifted ranger, ditch the Torsion bars, and get a set of coils and shocks a 2-3 inches shorter then the ones you used to achieve about 2 inches of lift on a stock ranger? I assume it would be equilivalent to cranking the torsion bars but just having a better ride. I know that on a IFS you can lift it about 2 inches without really messing up the suspension geometry and driveline angles.

Yes it is. You can do the same thing on the stock, unlifted suspension by using the RCD mounts with a 6~6.5" travel coilover shock. The clearance to the upper control arm, CV boot and brake caliper is very tight, so it could be a problem with a coilover depending on which brand is used. Also, for any given shock travel, the compressed and extended lengths often vary between manufacturers. So it is important to look at those dimensions as well as the actual travel number.

All such conversions will probably need a limit strap to prevent CV bind at full full extension. On a stock truck, the extended shock length is carefully sized to be the rebound travel limiter. Aftermarket performance shocks come in stepped increments and they aren't intended to be bump stops anyway.

Cranking up the spring adjusters is not a true lift - all you'd be doing is repositioning the static ride height within the stock limits of the CV's - just like a torsion bar adjustment. You can only gain about 1/4~1/2" of wheel travel over stock before the CVs bind while turning at full shock extension. Tightening the springs up to achieve a "lift" would bring up the same problems associated with excessive torsion bar adjusting - harsh ride and accelerated ball joint and tire wear.
