Torsion keys Questions

I have a few questions bout torsion keys. First off when torsion keys are installed i undestand they reindex the starting point for the torsion adjuster bolt ....right????? That was my first question. My second question if I am somewhat correct with that is it possible to install torsion keys where they are indexing at the highest point, then crank the Tbars?????? Need info

What keys are you talking about? The aftermarket set you can find on flea bay? These ones will destroy your front end. They push your CV's and BJ's too far past their designed angle of operation.

The general consensus of this site is that aftermarket keys are bad, but i haven't heard anyone having problems because of them. And yes, you can get new keys and crank (with the limitations being the shock extended length and/or the bumpstops), but that is really pushing the limits of the front end parts, and destroying any ride quality you might have had.

^^Thats because people dont run them long enough to see the ill effects....before they solid axle it or go long travel.

To answer the OP's question: They move where the torsion bar sits in the key....rotates it a good amount in order to twist the lower control arm downward, in order to get 'lift'. Then you can max out your bars, and suddendly you've got 4" of front end lift over stock, no down travel what so ever, rough rough rough ride, wacked out balljoint and CV angles, and accelerated torsion bar wear as well as the other front end parts. And the possibility of being un-alignable. Do it if you want to, you'll enjoy the front end rebuilds every year....

Here's a pic of a Torsion keyed ranger. He has since went long travel suspension...
