never really considered it.. but looking at the DBR long travel kit...

since i'll be moving back to vegas, i wouldnt mind getting into the whole prerunner thing.

that kit is expensive, and would be a long ways away if i did do it. but would it still be good if i wanted to take it on trails n stuff?? is there anyone on here that has it? it looks badass, and would make my truck REALLY fun!

RedOctober 03-24-2009 02:14 AM

If I do any susp. work on my truck THAT is the kit I will be going after..

Lifts for our trucks are over rated...

I would love to have Sophie all long legged and sexy!

Four wheeler put it on there project Ranger runner. I know some one else on the site has the kit too. just cant think of the name...

I'm wondering if a full size axle would work in the back.. being the front would be 8in wider..

Tys 4x4 FTW 03-24-2009 02:16 AM

yeah i saw the build. ****ing sexy as hell

what about a nice 9" rear with glass front and rear.

wooooweeeeee

Tys 4x4 FTW 03-24-2009 02:20 AM

for any that are curious, heres that build

holy wow
http://www.fourwheeler.com/projectbu...4x4/index.html

RedOctober 03-24-2009 02:22 AM

Exactly a built 9 out back!! Hell yeah!! It would have to be glass with a steel bed..gotta have the bed space for camping gear, or do the baseball bat mod to the stock fenders.

Tys 4x4 FTW 03-24-2009 02:25 AM

either would work lol

idk. i think it would make the ultimate rig. sure, you couldnt rock crawl, but you shouldnt be doing that in a ranger anyways lol
it'd be awesome on trails, and kick ass out in the desert.

RedOctober 03-24-2009 02:29 AM

thats exactly what I want a bomber that I could still 4wheel the high country with. and utilize the bed..

Tys 4x4 FTW 03-24-2009 02:30 AM

yeah that'd be perfect for me

i mean, sure, i could probably have a SAS done for cheaper then the parts alone from the DBR kit. but that wouldnt suit what i wanna do with my truck .

RedOctober 03-24-2009 02:35 AM

Exactly! I like having a low CG. and the way an IFS handles.. esp. at speed.

Tys 4x4 FTW 03-24-2009 02:40 AM

yeah i think that would be the downfall of the SFA. as cool as it'd be. i think i'd rather have the lower CG and still be as capable.

TrePaul86 03-24-2009 02:44 AM

You might have a low CG with the kit, but not necessarily good GC. Still IFS.

Tys 4x4 FTW 03-24-2009 02:46 AM

yes still IFS. which sucks. but its better then stock. and a bit more practical for me then going SFA.

RedOctober 03-24-2009 02:50 AM

Im ok with a lower GC. its also called DC.. and then you don't need as much GC.

TrePaul86 03-24-2009 02:54 AM

ABC 123. lol (sorry I just had to... All these abbreviations)

Tys 4x4 FTW 03-24-2009 10:47 AM

lol x2

whats DC?

So you want a 9" rear axle, with say disk brakes, truss, skid plate, Strange nodular third member, 1350 yolk, 35 spline Currie axle shafts, 35 spline Detroit locker, and 4.56 gears?

Nah, that will never work......

RedOctober 03-24-2009 12:38 PM

LoL.... that sounds about right..

DC is driver control... a dude that can read the lines right to get his truck threw narly S#it with minimal to no body damage in my opinon is a true 4 Wheeler..

is that sarcasm? haha

It has to be. that's the perfect rear end.. I'm sure that's what he's spying for his own set up..

RedOctober 03-24-2009 12:57 PM

Redneckstone 03-24-2009 01:00 PM

Ding Ding Ding We have a winner!

Tys, you have an auto or stick? If it's an auto you'll have issues running the 9" because it has no VSS, but when the time comes I can help you with that.

That shouldn't be a problem. In 2001 Ford moved the speed sensor from the rearend to the tranny. He should be able to run any kind of rearend with no speedo issues.

Good call. He'll lose ABS, but that won't necessarily be a bad thing at that point.
