Newb with some questions

First of all let me say hello to all! I been gazing at the site as a guest on and off and i saved some money and i think you all will be the best people to answer some questions for me.

1st of all the truck:
04 Black Ford Ranger edge 2WD regular cab

The story:
This is my wifes truck and she wants to lift it, i been over it again and again and again trying to make sure she is ready, i got a lifted z71 and she knows that she wants it. We got a good friend that has a ranger like hers that has a total of 10" of lift. She says that is too high, i think it looks great. We thought about going with half of that .

The Question:
What do yall reccommend as far as lift goes, i can do 3 spindle 2 body or something like that. What is the best way to get 5" of lift? What size a tire would fit on a 5" lift? Can i use stock rims?

I am up for criticism/suggestions/comments.

thanks for the help
