They aren't that expensive until you start adding other stuff on top of it like a lift, limit straps and mounts, install cost if you can't do it, etc.

My only thought is how the hell a Superlift ADDS travel when its a straight up drop bracket kit that still uses stock arms and doesn't increase track width either.

All the guess work has been done by ORW as posted here in this thread and their other coil-over conversion threads....i guess I just don't understand what the hubbub is all about. lol.

I'll be installing my Superlift and Coilovers sometime within the next two weeks or so, and try and do as much measuring/comparing as I can to try and help answer any questions.

Rancho has the shock specs. for a 4" lifted Ranger/Explorer/Sport Trac at Extended Length (in)18.250 in.
Collapsed Length (in) 13.750 in. Are the coilover shocks the same???

I don't know what the exact extended and collapsed lengths are as the coil-over's are custom built for the Ranger application. I was told some of the coil-over's have not even had part numbers given to them yet. I would call Nick at Off Road Warehouse to place your order.

Rancho has replacement 4" lift shocks for 98+ trucks!?!?!???? Sweet! My Superlift shocks are totally TOAST and they've only got about 30k on 'em.




Random Superlift fact of the day: actual "lift" is 3.5". I took a tape to it while I was under my truck tonight. lol.

Random Superlift fact of the day ver 2.0: Superlift shocks suck.

OK sorry guys, I got it wrong Rancho makes shocks for a lifted F150---- The only shocks I can fine for a lifted IFS Explored/ Sport Trac/ Ranger are from SuperLift.
With that said I'm thinking that the F150 shocks may work on the Sport Trac. Sport Trac stock is 11.52" --18.66" F150 4" lift are Rancho 13.5"--- 22.5" the mount. looks the same. And with larger tires 33" ect. more weght so the F 150 shock may work. I know the F150 shock on a first gen Explorer does work.

Rancho doesn't make a direct replacement shock for a Ranger with a Superlift.

Nope, the only shocks that are a direct replacement are the Superlift shocks. If you changed the mounting style you would have a lot of options.

You could weld some tabs on the LCA and get an adaptor for the top shock mount and run eye to eye shocks.

If you changed the mounting style to eye/eye you would have a lot more options for shocks. Then you could get the shock that you want.

i was thinking of doing the coilover conversion but would it be better to do the eye/eye or is that more expensive

A coil-over conversion is much better all the way around.

An F-150 shock may work, but the damping will probably be very stiff for a Ranger. A person would have to compare the extended and collapsed lengths and get one to match. It's hard to find specifications for shocks online so you would have to call the shock manufacturer or supplier.

If you would like to stay with conventional shocks I would convert to eye/eye and not worry about finding a shock with the stud/bar pin mounting style.
